In Reply to: Biasing EI KT-90 type 2's in ARC D76a. Ping Jim McShane or anyone who has idea posted by SirAnthony on March 1, 2006 at 19:49:23:
is that perhaps it may not be the tubes. If it were my amp, I'd be looking at the plate voltages and other pertinent mearurements to determine if the power supply and the bias circuit is operating ok. Then I'd be checking the phase splitter circuits to confirm they're ok.Only then would I start to suspect the output tubes given the way the amp is reacting under load.
