Don't give up. Keep working the problem. Those Orange Globes are too nice to relegate them to the junk box. If you can manage it, check out Herbie's Hal-o's. Herbie is a supporter of the Asylum and you can find a link to him on the Asylum Home Page. Also, to the extent possible, try isolating the preamp. If all this fails, try to pin it down to see if it might just be one of the tubes that is the offender. If so, maybe just replace that one.
