It is indeed possible that the haze you mention would not affect the test values of the tubes in question.
I have seen exactly what you describe before on tubes. They worked fine.
But because they are contaminated with a foreigh substance, they may not live as long.
It seems quite a few people have been saying that the newer JJ Tesla tubes have some serious quality issues. I have some Tesla EL34's, and I have to say that I won't buy any more because of the poor quality.
