You Need To Be Aware...

There are mullard ecc83s and MULLARD ECC83s. The latter have long-plates and a square getter ring. They can be identified by the "mc1" code and mid-to-late 1950s date codes. These are the "best" Mullard ECC83s and sound even better than the ten times more expensive Telefunken ECC803S. IMHO, they are the best value of any ECC83.

The next best Mullard ECC83 also has long-plates, but has a round getter ring, "f91" code and usually a 1958 or 1959 date code. In the 1960s, Mullard went to a short plate ECC83. They can be identified by the I61 code. They are also good, but not as good as the long-plate Mullards.
