The EF91, aka 6AM6, has similar characteristics, but a different pinout.
Electrical differences: EF91 heater 0.30 A, 6HS6 0.45 A
EF91 gm = 7500 to 8700 umho, 6HS6 9500
Pinout: EF91 6HS6
1 G1 G1
2 K G3
3 F F
4 F F
5 A A
6 G3 G2
7 G2 K
Assuming that the circut has G3 connected to K, you need to exchange the connections to pins 6 and 7 to substitute the EF91.
Angela Instruments had a good deal on EF91s last year.
Hope this helps.
