Jimmy said it right..tester or operator error or dirty connections.You know another thing that happens on tubes and even new tubes and nos tubes and that is after they run a while particles start falling off the elements and these particles are conductive many times.They get lodged in an area like between the cathode and grid or heater to cathode and of course the tube will not conduct properly or not conduct at all many times..You can tap them and they correct themselves many times because they will dislodge the piece of matter thats in there casuing a short.I have one of my NOS mullard el37s and it got microphonic the other day and I gave it a few thumps and I have run it everyday for 3 hours for the last week and the problem hasnt reoccured.I think it will be fine I hope.
