15-20 years ago or so and start from there.
Plenty of good recommendations on there to be found now for
MUCH LESS than the "list" price on the used market and likely
close enough in sound quality and performance to where you'll
not notice nor care because you'll be so delighted in the actual
sound quality that you actually hear in a speaker you actually own.
You want a great budget speaker buy used within your budget.
