Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

RE: Probably good advice

About 15 years ago, I put new surrounds on a pair of Dynaudio 8" drivers. The old ones were foam, which had disintegrated. The new ones are neoprene "rubber". Got them from Meniscus in Michigan (which I think is now out of business), along with the aforementioned M-E-K glue which adheres to polypropylene. Being a little familiar with speaker drivers, I was totally aware of the importance of getting it all centered properly. But without handy "do it every day" tools and shims, it was tedious. I don't recommend it for an amateur. You're more likely to screw it up than get it right.
