Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

Two subs in two different corners has never sounded good to me...

When space permits I use a multiple subwoofer, asymmetrically distributed setup inspired by "The Swarm". When I'm using four subwoofers (all running at very low volume levels), they always end up in different areas of the room but only one ends up close to a corner.

In almost any scheme two subs in two corners might be a recipe for boominess. But, try everything out for yourself and see what you think...

If I was using two subwoofers I'd not concern myself with symmetrical placement too much. Symmetrical placement might look tidy but I'd simply put the subs wherever they sounded best - regardless of the way it looks.
