Surrounds (foam ones) can rot away. Adhesives can dry out and become brittle. In some cases, I've seen metals on motors "rot" and corrode.
If stored vertically, cones can sag - the suspensions do get impacted by gravity. On their backs may result in cones sagging towards the motor. Gravity again. Just in another direction. ;-)
If they get wet, they can mold. I had a MDF sub box get wet and thought it was okay after it dried out. When I went to remove the woofer, it was full of mold. Good think it was in a closed boxed design with no port...
Like speakers, we're here for a good time not a long time.
If you're not using them, sell them.
I have "special to me" speakers components I will one-day need to get rid of. My kids will toss them into a landfill, not knowing what they are or how to get to someone who knows their value if they did.
Live for today I say. Keep switching between speakers and components.
That's where the fun is.
Having a perfected system is fun for a while. Until it's not.
