ONLY BY THEORY, it is feared that a large woofer not stored on its back will be deformed by the weight of its voice coil pulling down in one direction against the fading resistance of the woofer surround, meaning that the Magnet Gap on the top side of the voice coil will be significantly greater than on the low side.
My attitude always has been that if the VC is not rubbing, soldier on.
