Supposedly, filling hollow or tubular stands with heavy (non-corrosive) materials like play sand, lead shot, kitty litter, etc... adds both extra weight AND vibration damping characteristics that (supposedly) would enhance the HiFi experience.I have never tried filling my speaker stands (in the above manner). Mostly because, in the event of a move I might have to drain the stands of all extraneous material(s)...
Potentially, a very messy experience.
