Is the blame with the speaker because it needs more juice or the amp because it is underpowered?Don't quite fully get your point. The Parasound HCA 1500 and the HCA 2200 and the Adcom 5800 are all greater than 200 watts, the Adcom was actually 300 watts. This should be more than enough "juice" for a speaker rated at 86 db or was it 88 db.
The Adcom and the Parasound both delivered the power needed to drive these speakers reasonably. However none of these amps sounded particularly good - the 60 watt Exposure sounded better than all of them.
In fact I'm betting these speakers need a high power amp of significant quality - something costing at least twice their retail value to make them reasonably sing - and something much more expensive than that for them to deliver close to their best.
I'm betting there are guys on cloud 9, powered by the great reviews, who have these things hooked up to high powered Yamaha or Onkyo recievers. More power to them - let them write a review singing their praises. I spent 3 years trying to get these things to sound good before I gave up on em.
Give me rhythm or give me death!
