Then the caps decay over years, leading to increased FR imbalances. The weight of the magnets can throw the woofers out of alignment (which is why people suggest rotating boxes 180 degrees every year when speakers are in storage - so the woofer is pulled the other way.)Lastly, technology advances, all other things being equal. Even if the ProAcs were three years old I still think you could get better speakers for 3k, although what I consider important in a speaker might differ from what you value.
