Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

The soundstage (stereo's " phantom images") are an illusion in our brains and can't be measured ... yet

YOU WROTE:
"Just curious. But it would sure make the asylum dull if there WERE such instruments; all debate would shorten or cease ... or perhaps the ammunition of opinion would just be replaced with the ammunition of science...."

RBG:
Yeah, right!
No more debates!
I don't think so.
We'd still debate which reviewer/scientist does the best measurements, assuming there was a good method to measure inside ouyr brains without drilling holes in our skulls and attching wires with solder, like we do now.

Then some audiophiles would claim they can hear better than those $%#&@ measurements, and others would claim the self-proclaimed golden ears were exaggerating to make themselves look superior.

Then the usual character attacks would start.

Soon people would be comparing each other's posts to piles of steaming horse by-products or comparing each other's families to various farm animals.

And finally someone would be compared with Hitler ... after which the whole thread would be tossed into Whiner's Woad, where I am the self-appointed Moderator, but have no idea how to delete anything, so there it will stay forever after.

Care to debate my prediction?
