Home Speaker Asylum

General speaker questions for audio and home theater.

OOPS!!!

I didn't mean to imply it was my system!! But I see how it reads like that. Oops, sorry!

Heck no, I'M not fortunate enough to own these speakers. Actually, the setup belonged to a fellow AA member, Neil G. He's part owner of Everest Audio in Regina, and the system was in his possession at the time. I hung out with him and got to hear it. It was and still is the best and most valuable system I've ever heard.

Tone, dynamics, and refinement seemed to be, to these inexperienced ears mind you, just about perfect. It definitely crossed the border from upper mid-fi to high end. The only thing was that when I closed my eyes, the band wasn't..quite..there. Real close though. I imagine that's what the next couple hundred grand you can spend gets you, the last 2 or 3%...

Anyways, all I meant was that I'd consider myself VERY lucky if at some point in my life I could own a setup like that. I COULD rationalize spending around $20g+ on a system, including ~$11,000 on speakers and a sub, because it really seemed worth it to me, and I'll strive to accomplish that goal at some point in my life. But, unless I come into some free money, I don't imagine I'll ever be in the position of owning anything more extravagant than that. I WILL certainly try to DEMO such extravagant systems though, even despite the feelings of envy and depression that ensue.
