As has been mentioned already, for extending low frequencies utilizing the augmentation method, I would look no further than REL or even Audio Physics.These subs do not offer high pass x-overs and are intended to be used with your mains running full range.
I own 2 REL subs, each in different systems, and have been able to blend them seemlessly in each and they both provide an extremely deep/solid musical foundation.
Don't forget that one also needs to address room acoustics as well when implementing ANY sub for best results.
