I think the first question to ask when starting a subwoofer project is this:
What is the largest size enclosure that will fit comfortably in my room?When you know the answer, you can use a computer model to find a driver that will give you the damping (for example, Q = 0.6 for a sealed enclosure with a good, detailed response) that you decide will work best for your needs.
