I concur with Audiophilander's impression of the recent James Gang shows. It was beyond my wildest expectations. The James Gang were SPOT ON last night in Saratoga's Mountain Winery venue. I have seen Joe 6 times since 1979, and this was, by far, my favorite show.
After the openning "Walk Away", Joe says "Song #2" and they went into "Take A Look Around" - from that point on, I might as well just have put "Yer Album" and "Rides Again" on the turntable - the band was tight!
Joe's playing was as nifty, and voice as sweet as I've ever recall.
Typical in Joe Shows, the crowd was composed of crusty old boomers who looked 10 years older than their acutal age - some with trophy wives - most with their spouses and/or other ugly white guys.
Depsite the overall cost around $650 (Two 12th row tickets, T-shirts, dinner, drinks, etc), I was able to experience one of those rare transcending moments that live performances give me. It was a great time.
