to me, i prefer Neil Young solo or with his band Crazy Horse.I'm not into CSN on their own that much, but i do appreciate a few of their songs. i think when NY joins CSN it's more of a side project for him as you said. no doubt the other guys (CSN) probably feel overshadowed by NY when they do collaborate.
