According to link below, ten Metallica albums will be remastered and reissued in paper sleeve format on 8/2/06.Question for Metallica fans: is this is the first remastering since the albums were released?
I'm not a huge Metallica fan but really enjoy their "black" album. Unfortunately, the DVD-A I have--I only listen in stereo anyway at this point--has a "downmix" from the surround sound, which means I am still lacking an acceptable stereo version of this album.
This same situation happened to me on ELP's Brain Salad Surgery. I didn't know how poor the stereo downmix on the DVD-A sounded until I picked up Rhino's BSS CD. It was clearly audible to me, and I can't say that about many remasters I pick up.
Thanks for any help on the Metallica catalog.
