The funny thing is I got this CD because I thought "Lateralus" was decent, and everybody was proclaiming the new CD as a better album....In retrospect, I get the feeling the musicians were not comfortable with what they were playing. Especially the drummmer. "Lateralus" played to the band's strengths, and I think the band tried to play a more conventional rhythmic style, and it exposed its weaknesses.
It's unfortunate because the artful packaging is the most-elaborate I've seen for a CD. It also happens to be the number one seller, at the moment, on Amazon.
