Actually, Clapton and Boston might be a good analogy as I find the playing of both to be more than a little formulaic. That's one thing about the Cream reunion...Independent of the material, Clapton seemed to play a little differently than I'm used to hearing him. It was almost like this mattered to him where you don't get that feeling in a lot of his material. I think Clapton's a great player but not one that I particularly enjoy listening to..if you get the distinction. Call me a sockpuppet....
