Well put, in my book. The atmosphere of the better clubs, ie Village Vanguard or the Regatta Bar in Cambridge, is that of an intimate little hall, and the sound is most often a better match for small- group jazz. Astute listeners love these venues most of all, and many musicians do as well.
I am not sure what the gentleman above meant by that `bar musician`crack, either. But he might be surprised, for one thing, what a thriving, top level club is able to pay a top- level band for a week or two^s work. Bar musicans, indeed.
