What ANY major US orchestra should immediately do is to stop emulating the idiocies inherent in the NYPO vein of thinking and, instead, go out of their way to try and hire David Robertson. Now there is a very, very good American conductor!Or Kent Nagano - similarly a standout but with a wider repertory that could help fill the obligatory subscriber seats.
And why not Dennis Russel Davies as well; he deserves a better job.
(Marin Alsop is already gainfully employed on her own home court and honestly she's not as good.)
