...some of The Last Poets early work from the early 70's. They might be considered the originators of the modern rap/hip hop movement. Their message is political and about black liberation.
Gil Scott-Herron is also recommended to check out. His early work is similar to The Last Poets and later on had a jazz/soul groove.
