The potted modules hiding the essential parts of the circuits were common feature in many products in the past. It's not an issue today with digital technology. You still use plastic lid on your table don't you? I just bought an old Goldmund studio and despite the shippers best efforts and factory box it arrived demolished. $360 they want for that piece of plastic in the shop nearby.
