Your experience is why I am approaching this gingerly. Prior to my purchase of the Mydac, I had a Lite DAC 72 which was an excellent DAC, especially after I upgraded it with Genelex tubes. I sold it thinking it wasn't making the difference I thought I originally heard and it turned out to be a problem with the preamp. I'm getting great clarity and resolution with the NuPrime CDT-8 Pro transport feeding it via an Audioquest Coffee digital cable. That cable made a huge difference, but I still sense a bit less bass and body than I had with the Lite. Like you, I want to avoid the clinical sound bordering on bright. Thanks for your sharing your insight and experience.
