Home Digital Drive

Upsamplers, DACs, jitter, shakes and analogue withdrawals, this is it.

RE: Pioneer PDR-555RW

For digitizing vinyl you will of course need a turntable, cartridge, and phono preamp. You will also need an Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) with USB output. The audiophile ADC were very pricey but excellent results can be had with ADC for a couple hundred dollars. You will also need a PC/Mac with USB input and software on the computer that captures the digitized audio data over its USB port.

TT -> Phono -> ADC USB Out -> PC/Mac USB In -> Software on PC/Mac

I commented on DIGITIZING VINYL a while back. The Parasound zPhone linked below includes the phono preamp and the ADC in one unit. The USB output feeds your Mac or PC. Free software that works well for this purpose is Audacity which runs on Mac or PC.
