I think the gist of the article is "zero isn't exactly zero" and "one isn't exactly one"..... Due to noise, digital pulse rise times, power supply ripple, jitter, EMI/RFI, etc.
People either trust their ears or they don't..... Even for those who don't, try to live with a specific setup..... For at least a full week..... Then try to live with a singular change to the setup (whether it's to a DAC, a cable, or even a power cord).....
And then ask: Am I more satisfied with the presentation currently running, or with the presentation that was previously running?
(Some might think the experiences are similar..... That's fine too..... Saves money.... )
Often a "change" to the system needs to be lived with for a while in order to determine whether the sonic presentation has become better or worse.
