I think you make an important point here - ultimately it is what we like and pleases us that is more important than what is supposed to be good. I wouldn't act in haste though - flogging off your system will see you with probably much less than 50% what you paid for it. Once it is gone you may have that uncomfortable feeling of 'whether I have done the right thing' that often ends in us going out and spending more $$$.

My suggestion box it all up, put it away, and then see how you feel with it out of circulation in 3 months time.

FWIW I have multiple systems - a $100k solid state main stereo 'high end system' and a <$10k stereo valve setup in another room. Whilst there is no dount that the big toys sound 'better' guess which one I (and visitIng guests) enjoy most and spend most time listening to ...
