I had an SCD-777es- an excellent player. But it was substantially surpassed by the Modwright 999ES signature mod. Substantial improvement in definition and transparency on SACD but especially redbook. Dan's players are close to state of the art. I haven't personally heard the Denon 2900 mod, but understand it's as good as the Sony 999es. I'd strongly suggest Modwright. (If not in appropriate here, I have a Modwright 999ES Signature/clock mod unit for sale at a reasonable price) But interested or not- Modwright is the way to go.
