You said in your first post that your BIL modified the Liteaudio DAC-60 by replacing the caps...easy to understand how someone confused that with the CEC TL51X.But what I'm really dying to know, since it appears he has a little over 2K tied up in his digital rig, where the other $792,000 is invested in your BIL's 800k system. This isn't sniping, it's just sheer nosiness.
I got nuthin' against modding or less expensive giant killers BTW. It's not normally my cuppa but I understand the attraction.
But I had a 303/100 in my system for a few years and for its current street price (something under 1k on Audiogon these days) it is a mighty music machine. I also had the 303/300 in my system and it was a fine machine as well. I happen to like the Cary CD players, as well as the Lecotrs, although I think the most satisfying digital playback to my ears is probably the Reimyo.
Different taastes, different budgets, different systems playing different kinds of music, YMMV.
