The SCD-1 is brighter, weighty, and hyper-detailed. The 7000 is rounder, sweeter, and more dimensional; also a tad warmer than the SCD-1.It's almost become a mood thing as to which transport I'll use on any given day. Both are permanently hooked up: the SCD-1 via glass Toslink and the 7000 via Nordost Moonglo coax (RCA output/input). Note, therefore, that the sonic differences may be affected by the cables, not just the transports themselves. Still, I think it's mostly the transports: these are the same sonic signatures as when I formerly used these as stand-alone CD players.
Incidentally, in my system the SCD-1 setup sounds better upsampled to 192kHz, and the 7000 setup at 96kHz.
