I have built several dozen cables for my phono wiring, and my two current favorites both use Belden 1192a cable. One set has ETI Copper Link RCA plugs; the other has WBT 0102 Cu NextGen plugs. They sound quite different but both are great.
The Belden 1192a is a pro microphone cable. It is a shielded quad cable with four 24g stranded copper conductors. For a phono interconnect you connect two wires in parallel for each conductor and the shield is connected to ground at just one end. My 18" cables measure 87pf with plugs.
The 1192a cable is flexible yet sturdy, it's easy to terminate, and it's cheap. I bought mine at $1.79 per foot. Despite the low price this cable deserves the very best RCA plugs since they affect sound quality just as much as the cable used. The ETI Copper Links and WBT 0102 Copper are my two best sounding plugs. KLEI Absolute should also sound very good for a bit less money.
