I just replaced a very expensive (in the $thousands)set of biwire speaker cables and there was a significant improvement in all areas. I expected a degradation in sound, but decided to try the ACs after all the great comments I've read about them I am delighted and amazed--and I have a highly resolving system. So in my experience the ACs don't just compete well with inexpensive cables, they are a viable replacement for even high end cable. But this is a very subjective hobby so it's undertandable that others might differ. However, with the AC return policy, the best way is to try them yourself.
