I have a 7 meter pair of gen.1 XLR-terminated AQ Lapis that I'd like to chop up and make into several pairs of RCA-terminated ICs. Unfortunately, this cable is a bit thick -- 9.4 mm, according to my micrometer -- and is thus too big for most connectors. The only ones I've found, thus far, that will accomodate it are the Cardas SRCA Ultimate (9.5 mm) and the WBT 0150 Topline (11.3 mm). As the WBT is much too expensive for me (~$35/plug), I'd like to ask if the Cardas SRCA is a good connector for the Lapis, or if there are others that are better for the same or less money (the Cardas is available new for ~$9/plug).Also, what's a reasonable price to pay someone to terminate these (internally, if memory serves, they have 6 individually-insulated copper conductors helically wrapped about a teflon core)? I've been quoted $40 per pair for labor.
