If you do the VH recipe where you do three generations of braiding, you end up with an equivalent wire gauge of around 10.5 . I'm likely to experiment with only 2 generations of braiding, which would give me an equivalent gauge of around 14.5 . I'm a little weary of going to such a large gauge (10.5) with all the "big vs. small" debate - and my personal experience that thick gauge wire loosens up the bass and fogs up the highs. Plus, doing only 2 layers of braiding cuts the cost by two thirds! : )
