Mark Craney is awesome on this album.
Follow Ups:
Picked up "Gist of the Gemini" and "Brother to Brother" recently. Both 70's pressings under five bucks each and in excellent condition. Spent a lot more at the record store that day but these were maybe the best of the bunch. Looking out for "Powerful People".
The MFSL of 'Powerful People' is excellent but probably hard to find. This is my favorite GV album.
The title song of "Powerful People" is also on the "Best of" album. It's a really excellent selection of his art:
Wheels Of Life
Crazy Life
I Just Wanna Stop
Love Me Now
Powerful People
People Gotta Move
Mama Coco
Love Of My Life
One Night With You
Appaloosa
One of my all time favorite artists.
Wasn't aware of his artistry until '82 or so when I bought the "Best of" album. It includes the title song of your disc. Amazingly dynamic, I listened to it just a couple days ago.
I recall in an interview that Mark Craney said it was one of the most demanding gigs/band he had ever played with. Meaning it was like a serious workout doing them tunes. I also heard that Gino was a drummer himself so that's why he had picked certain drummers for his band.
