Unless the heads are stripped out already :(
Using the correct bit/blade for JIS cross-shaped (which resemble bue are notPhillips) screw heads generally makes all the difference.
I have a nice set of Vessel drivers I picked up a couple of years ago on Amazon that serve very well for Japanese receiver hardware. Also, FWIW (and I do not pretend to speak with expertise, only experience) I usually do much less damage with an impact driver than a hand driver. Yeah, I know -- zut alors, right?
That said: with a JIS hand driver, careful pressure "down" on the screw (I like to use the palm of my hand on the "top" of the handle), care and patience -- they should come out. The old trick of tapping the screwdriver with a small hammer (ballpeen, e.g.) is a good one for stuck fasteners. A gentle(!!!) dunking with WD-40 or PBlaster might be needed if there's rust. :(
My recollection of those big Kenwoods is that they do not age well. I would be concerned that taking one to a "tech" could result in a money pit. Doesn't the KR-9060/KR-9600 use a so-called thick film output power module (i.e., STK module, or similar)? :(
all the best,
mrh
