Look for long-ish mounting "rods" in either/both of the places indicated in the annotated crop of your photo above, thoward. I suspect there are nuts or clips or something that secure the record player to the wooden 'plinth'. :)

What kind of record player is it? "We" might be able to get some more specific information.
