For a couple of years I've been running a Philips 312 through a Setton RS-440 in my second setup, and it's always sounded good. Just a few days ago, playing an acoustic album recorded at low levels, I noticed an intermittent high-pitched sound - kind of a fluttery, hard-to-pin-down noise like a radio that's between stations - along with some low-pitched static - coming through. I can only hear this when Phono is selected, every other input is dead quiet. I tried unplugging all the components hooked up to the Setton, unplugging all the RCA jacks, but even when it's just the Setton and the speakers they're connected to, the sound remains the same.
Where would you suggest I start looking? Could this be radio interference coming through only on the phono stage? (I live in Brooklyn, and both AM and FM signals are a crowded mess around here).
