No go on the 4 ohm tap but I don't have any 4 ohm speakers. I have piles of EL34s too but no 6550's so I guess I'll use them. I actually kind of like 5U4's as they have a bit more voltage drop but but don't sag on transiants because they pass plenty of current. Plus I have a bunch of ST ones that look nice and these PT's have plenty of output to run the heaters. And, I've yet to see one fail unlike a lot of 5ar4's over the years.
