I like Onkyo & Nikko gear.

I've had a couple of Onkyo tape decks and found them to be very competent performers with good build quality and great reliability.

And one of my favorite receivers I've ever owned was a monster Nikko NR-1019. It sounded as impressive as it looked. A real beauty. And I paid $15 for it.

I agree with Pete. The Onkyo & Nikko gear is a great deal on the used market because it's not as well-known as some of the other brands. But the quality's there.
