What I did.....

with the JJ electrolytics is to remove the original filter caps *and* the mounting ring for the twist locks. The 2 rivet holes used to hold this ring in place are then used to mount a cap clamp that then holds the JJ in place. You can then slide the cap down into the big hole so that the lugs are easily soldered to. The trick is drilling or pushing out the old rivets without causing other things to break.

See Jim McShane's site for some pics of how he does this with the Citation II power supply to get an idea. So far, its worked on the Citation II, Citation I, Mac MC-75s and, shortly for me, the Mac MC-225s. In the case of the Citation II and the Macs, I used a properly sized punch and hammer with a properly sized socket on the back side to drift out the rivets so there wasn't any metal filings from drilling floating around. To do this, however, required removal of the entire chassis bracket from the unit. It wasn't that hard to do once I figured out where all the wires went - take *lots* of notes and pictures.
