IF those drivers are really cheap PA speakers those boxes could be used to construct some really neat towers employing new drivers and multiple woofers from PE or madisound. The guys on the parts express board would probably welcome the challenge.
I would be thinking twin Dayton woofers in each box, each 8 or 10 inches depending on exactly how much space you have in width
