Yes it is normal for most pentodes to have a blue glow, although it's usually not very prominent.I would say if you want to go forward with confidence that there will be no surprises, I'd get someone to check it out. As many here will tell you, it is likely the PS caps (cans) need to be replaced period. You might find that as good as it sounds, it will sound better when running exactly at spec.
It is likely that it could continue working for some time as is, but you just never know when something is going to go.
Any plans to get a partner to make a stereo pair?
