need help with meter bulbs for RS STA-2080

Hi all:
I need help finding suitable replacement bulbs for my STA-2080's meters.The old ones are marked 8V,.3A and are about a quarter-inch in diameter.Although Parts Express 8V35ma lead bulbs work, they are considerably smaller and (i think) not as bright as the originals must have been (I just installed some,and they work but are dim).When I was removing the oldlamps I noticed they have what looks like a "wedge base" with the radial lead wires soldered on.
Anybody know of a good workable replacement?
