that's what I've been doing for the last few years. Geez, I can make one of those old, rusty Macs sing like the best amp in the world - they just won't look it, that's all.As I write this, I listen to a set of Mac MC-75s that came in quite messy on the cosmetic front. The rust has been pretty much removed leaving the chrome pitted but they'll stand right in there with my equally butt-ugly HK Citation II - also fully restored and singing like a champ.
