Klipsch Heresy refinishing questions

Hi all,
A few years back, I acquired a pair of Klipsch Heresys (probably Heresy I's), in pieces. I eventually acquired all the bits and pieces to be able to assemble a complete pair.
The cabinets have had the finish removed, but still have the serial number labels on them, and the pair are close but not sequential numbers. I plan to refinish them, possibly including applying some different veneer, painting the front baffles, and so on.
My question is (and I think I know the answer) - do these things have any collectible value I would be diminishing or destroying if I undertake those kinds of changes?
